Auf dem Hinweg nach Basel ist das berühmte Freiburger Münster die erste Station. Es entstand über mehr als drei Jahrhunderte hinweg, von 1200 bis 1513, vereinigt in sich spätromantische, gotische und spätgotische Stilelemente und besitzt laut dem Kunsthistoriker Jacob Burckhardt den "schönsten Turm auf Erden". Für die hohe künstlerische Qualität der Ausstattung stehen nicht zuletzt Altäre von Hans Holbein d. J. und von Hans Baldung Grien. Der Besuch des Münsters soll für die Besonderheiten und Bedeutungen der Architektur sowie der Ausstattung sensibilisieren. In Freiburg besteht auch die Möglichkeit, sich mit einem Mittagessen zu stärken.</ins></div></td></tr>

Die erste Einzelausstellung des Museums über den französischen Maler Paul Cézanne (1839–1906) konzentriert sich auf dessen spektakuläres Spätwerk und führt eindrucksvoll vor Augen, warum er als "Vater der modernen Kunst" gilt und bis heute eine Quelle künstlerischer Inspiration ist. Zu sehen sind Gemälde und Aquarelle mit Landschaften, Stillleben, Porträts und Badenden, in denen sich Cézanne auf virtuose Weise von der Wiedergabe von Naturvorbildern löst, um durch ein Nebeneinander Flecken Bilder einer ewigen Harmonie parallel zur Natur zu schaffen. </ins></div></td></tr>
