Und hier sind sie zu sehen: die square objects von josef: http://wiki.aki-stuttgart.de/mediawiki/index.php/Josef_Ueberall ... dazu eine kleine story, denn eines der objekte waren vier brotscheiben. als die dann eine weile hingen im griechischen restaurant "zum hohen rechberg" in schwäbisch gmünd, begannen sie ein eigenleben und fingen an zu schimmeln. nicht so cool in einem restaurant. josef nahm die scheiben mit heim und röstete sie auf dem kohleofen. ja, so war das damals anno anfang des neuen jahrtausends ... nice day an alle. k

Die Arbeiten Josef Überalls verweigern sich jeglicher Einordnung. Voll von scheinbaren Verweisen auf Vorbilder, entziehen sie sich dennoch aller Analogie. Manches Objekt mag lyrisch erscheinen, manches expressiv, anderes psychisch, vieles wirkt in seiner Obskurität hermetisch, zeichenhaft, unzugänglich. Alle Terminologie muß hier versagen, vorgedachte Konzepte prallen zurück, - oder anders gesagt: das Eigentliche der Werke entgleitet jedem vorbereiteten Konzept. Diese Werke scheinen nur für sich selbst da zu sein. Damit sind sie verantwortungslos, denn sie stehen nicht für etwas anderes sinnbildlich ein, transportieren keine Überzeugungen, wollen weder auf die Welt verweisen noch diese zu erklären versuchen. Das ist zugleich auch ein positives Moment: sie sind frei von jeglicher Ideologie. Selbst wenn diese Gegenstände eine solche tragen oder veranschaulichen, versinnbildlichen wollten: sie könnten es nicht. Diese Dinge gehören nicht zu der Welt, zu der das Leben der Stadt gehört, die das Haus umgibt, in welchem sich diese Dinge einfinden, in welchem sie geschaffen werden. Zu wechselhaft ist ein jedes dieser Werke, zu weitschweifig, - und dabei doch so dicht und eng und ganz bei sich selbst. Der Gedanke der Beliebigkeit will sich den Objekten zugesellen, aber auch er findet keine Aufnahme, denn hier herrscht trotz aller Skurrilität und trotz aller Nicht-Ordnung dennoch eine Notwendigkeit. Es handelt sich hierbei um eine innere Notwendigkeit: die Notwendigkeit, auf diese und keine andere Weise etwas aus dem Alltag herauszustellen, diesem Etwas ein limitiertes Dasein zu geben, um es später wieder im Alltag aufgehen zu lassen. Es ist also eher eine Notwendigkeit der Tat als die eines ästhetischen Werkbegriffes, die sich hier einfindet. Wollte ein Besucher dennoch einen roten Faden finden, der ihn leitete durch dieses Haus, oder, anders gesagt: ein Thema feststellen, unter welchem all diese Objekte, Körper, Dinge, Gegenstände, Konglomerate zu subsumieren seien, so sei ihm der Begriff Verbindungen empfohlen.
