The Handbook moves from an overview, through an explanation of each of the components of the system, to detail on how applications are built and the operation of the system through IDF and its Registration Agencies. The Appendices <http://www.doi.org/handbook_2000/toc.html#app1> provide detailed technical documentation and supporting information which is not necessary for most users. An Adobe^® Acrobat^® version of the Handbook (doi:10.1000/186 <http://dx.doi.org/10.1000/186>) is available and recommended for printing.
