"Es braucht nicht mehr als einen gesunden Menschenverstand, um zu begreifen, daß eine Gesellschaft, die auf beständiges industrielles und wirtschaftliches Wachstums angewiesen ist, auf Dauer keinen Platz auf der begrenzten Erde hat - oder den Planeten ruiniert.
Auf solch elementaren Erkenntnissen baut Joanna Macy ihre in den letzten 25 Jahren entwickelte "Arbeit, die wieder verbindet" auf, eine Form von Gruppenprozessen, durch die Menschen ermutigt und bestärkt werden, sich als Teil des großen lebendigen Ganzen zu verstehen und so zu handeln; mitzuwirken bei der Schaffung einer zukunftsfähigen, nachhaltigen oder - wie sie schreibt - "langfristig lebenserhaltenden Gesellschaft".

Ein ungewöhnliches Buch, ein wichtiges Werkzeug für Menschen, die mit aufrichtigem Herzen Agenten für den Wandel in der Welt sein wollen. Wen wundert es da, daß am Beginn ein Grußwort des Dalai Lama zu lesen ist."

which all of us may engage in at once or at different times, as required.
1) Holding actions = Resist and rebel and force accountability of our governments and of corporates; stop whatever further destruction we can; doing frontline work, crisis work, taking cases to the courts, exposing media lies, exposing the neocolonial capitalist patriarchy for all its rottenness, fighting the battles.
2) System and structural change = creating the new systems as the old ones come down, doing the work of weaving webs within societies, localising, re-educating, decolonising, social/climate justice work, bringing earth-centred ways of being into practice: basically, regenerative activities.
3) Consciousness change: this is a complex one, as it covers the need to bring ourselves back into harmony with nature, with the web of life; it's about recognising our interdependence. It also covers the grief work and process work that all of us at some time or other may need to do, to unblock our emotions so we can continue to work without burnout.
